How we build it right

The process behind concrete sidewalks & walkways built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete sidewalks & walkways job.

01

Subgrade matched to the soil

We prep and compact the subgrade to suit the ground, conditioning clay against shrink-swell and stabilizing sandy stretches, so the path holds its line instead of rising and dropping in spots.

02

4-inch pour

A walkway goes on a 4-inch pour, the right thickness for foot traffic.

03

Joint spacing

Control joints are spaced right so the slab has planned seams to travel along as the ground beneath it shifts across the seasons.

04

Pitch to shed water

We set the pitch so rain runs off the path instead of ponding and keeping the soil swelling unevenly under it.

05

Broom finish

A broom finish keeps your footing sure in the rain and on a frosty morning.

Why Lucky's

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete sidewalks & walkways, that starts with subgrade matched to the soil.

FAQ

Sherman concrete sidewalks & walkways, answered

How much does a concrete walkway cost in Sherman?

Sidewalks and walkways around here are priced by width, thickness, and base prep over whichever soil the run crosses, plus the slip-aware finish and the slope work. As an honest starting range, walkways usually fall between about $8 and $13 per square foot. We put a number to it once we have walked the run.

Can you fix a trip hazard instead of replacing the whole walk?

Often yes. A panel shoved up by shifting clay or by tree roots can frequently be ground down or swapped rather than redoing the whole run. We trace the cause first, then recommend the right fix.

Why has my sidewalk lifted at the joints?

On clay ground the soil swelling and contracting with the rains and dry spells pushes panels up unevenly, and tree roots add to it. We redo the base and the joint layout on the repair so it does not simply lift again.

Can you build ADA-compliant ramps?

Yes. We build ramps and approaches to the slope and finish accessibility calls for, with a slip-aware texture. Tell us how it will be used and we will build to it.

How are the joints spaced on a walkway?

Joint spacing is set against slab width and thickness so movement stays managed, since too few joints is where uncontrolled cracking starts, and the local clay gives no slack on it.

How long before I can walk on a new sidewalk?

Give the slab a few days to gain strength before regular foot traffic. We give you the exact timeline for your pour up front, with the heat factored in.
